Is there ANY practical purpose to get this? Or should I just get it when I finally raise PsyMod and SensImp to get Extreme Prejudice and Rapid Weapon?

not really because if you still step on the mine,doesnt matter if you can disarm an atom bomb,while its droping,if it explodes you cant disarm it

But you can still disarm it, regardless, as long as you havent stepped on it yet.
Dunno if you know this - but if you spot a trap before you step in it, your Ctrl-6 map flashes, and you hear a beeping sound... ;)

You don't loose anything by buying this nano and I'd recomend increasing PM and SI for blinds and EP anyway. Might be useful for someone else in your team who does disarm mines, even if you don't, as it isn't self only.

i would not buy it offhand, but then again i found it in a sl dungeon, fixed it up and viola. great for hacking and making perens

I wouldn't waste IP to use this but instead get some MP to buff you so that you are able to at least equip the nano. Besides every Engineer should have a MP as a best friend. They can buff you with all those Psy Mod and Sensory Improvement skills you need.
