Sacrifical Shielding
Allows the caster to focus their mental anguish on the target afflicting them with damage over time but also boosting their damage. In turn however the caster converts the targets pain into a shield for themselves. Sharing in the pain though means your own nano and offensive abilities will be much less effective for a time.

Also, this is pretty handy when soloing, as the mob gets 200 AR while DoT runs, and you get 250 AAD for 1 min, so during the second 30 seconds you effectively have 250 more defense.

Although you can cast it on yourself.. I wonder how much it helps to land perks (assuming the dot doesn't kill you)
